Buyer Questions
Residential contracts prepared by a New Jersey real estate licensee include a three-business-day attorney review period that begins when the fully signed contract is delivered. During that time either party’s attorney may review, propose changes or cancel. Weekends and legal holidays don’t count.
Under current MLS rules, buyers sign a written agreement with their agent before touring. It explains the services you’ll receive and how your agent is compensated. In New Jersey, commissions are negotiable.

Typical buyer costs include lender fees, title insurance, attorney fees, inspections, and prepaid property taxes and homeowners insurance. Your lender’s Loan Estimate will itemize the figures for your purchase.
New Jersey requires real estate licensees to provide a Consumer Information Statement that explains the business relationships a brokerage may have with you. We review it with you at the start. Read the NJ Consumer Information Statement.
